Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Solar Assistant Software Corp. collects and handles personal information when you use the SolarAssistant platform. Privacy questions or requests can be directed to privacy@solar-assistant.io.
What data we collect about you
When you create an account: email address, first and last name, phone number (optional), and password (stored as a one-way hash; we cannot read it).
When you use the service: your last sign-in time, your approximate location derived from your IP address (country and region), and your language preference.
When you pay: your payment is processed by a third-party processor (PayFast, PayPal, or Stax depending on your region). We receive confirmation of payment but do not store your card details.
Why we collect it
- To create and manage your account
- To provide remote access and support for your SolarAssistant device
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
- To process payments for licenses and renewals
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
Who we share it with
We share data only where necessary to run the service:
- Amazon AWS is used to deliver transactional emails (your email address is passed to this service for delivery purposes only)
- Payment processors (PayFast, PayPal, or Stax) when you make a purchase
- Shipping carriers (UPS, USPS, DHL, or others depending on your region) receive your name and delivery address when fulfilling a physical order
We also use Google Analytics to understand how the platform is used. This data is anonymous and cannot be linked back to you personally.
No other third parties receive your personal data.
Your SolarAssistant device
Your SolarAssistant device stores energy readings, inverter data, and system logs locally on your device. This data belongs to you. We do not receive or store it, with two exceptions: if you enable alerts, the relevant alert data is transmitted to our servers to deliver those notifications; and if you invite our support team to your site, they can view device registration details to help diagnose problems.
Support access
When you invite our support team to your site, they can see your account information and device registration details. Support is always performed by our in-house team and is never outsourced.
Use of AI
AI tools may be used to assist our support team when diagnosing problems. We select AI providers based on their privacy commitments. The providers we use do not train their models on customer data.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You may request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@solar-assistant.io. Payment records may be retained longer where required by law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this page. We will notify you by email if we make material changes.
Your rights
You may request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account by contacting privacy@solar-assistant.io.
